Queen of the Mushrooms

      Here's a magazine where one of my short stories appears. The story's called "Queen of the Mushrooms," and it's a fantasy romance kind of a thing between Lacewing, a shy young crow, and Bathetic, the Salamander Lord of Pandemonium. The magazine is called Journ-E , and it's 180 pages of just about everything a genre fan could want.      And I mean that. The magazine's divided into 5 sections—Adventure, Detectives, Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction—and each section's got stories, poems, and non-fiction related to that section's subject. And not just new stuff, either: the Detective section in this issue reprints Raymond Chandler's classic essay "The Simple Art of Murder" in which he lays out his ideas about how to write a proper mystery, and the Horror section has an article by Edgar Allan Poe in which he goes into detail about the process he followed when writing "The Raven."      I kind of have to wonder h
