The Terebinth Story Archive      Yeesh! The way people're getting their sonnets all tangled up here, it's a shocking state of affairs!

The Terebinth Story Archive      And now we get a proper adversarial villanelle! About time, too!

The Terebinth Story Archive      Lamont's clearest exposition of his ideas on change and life and whatnot probably comes in the "Indolence" section of Interstitial , the non-story that happened for 12 years around here before the current storyline began. Start with page 1,740 and go on from there if you're interested.

The Terebinth Story Archive      Esther and Lamont have been having this conversation for a long time: at least as far back as page 1,736 and following, and that was almost exactly three years ago in the run-up to our current storyline...

The Terebinth Story Archive      The better part of valor, I'd call it, for a flying cockroach not to get involved in a fight between coyotes and a weasel. Or "palmetto bug," I guess, is the term Lamont prefers...

The Terebinth Story Archive      Finally! Suppertime!

The Terebinth Story Archive      The ancient Roman poet Catullus has a poem like this , doesn't he? Well, okay, not exactly, but kinda...

The Terebinth Story Archive      I know I've linked to this stuff several times during this storyline, but let me point folks toward page 747 where Miss Annekke tracks Esther down after the whole eye-gouging thing. There's links on that page to the earlier pages in the their relationship - including the eye gouging - and the next 17 or so pages from all those years ago are really what set up our current melodrama. Feel free to review!

The Terebinth Story Archive      Lamont's so magnanimous! Or maybe that should be ":ignoramus"...      And in case anyone's interested in another recent poem of mine, " All Work and No Play " is up for free reading at Abyss & Apex . It's also been nominated for the Science-fiction and Fantasy Poetry's Association's Rhysling Award in the "long" category. And my short-story-disguised-as-a-poetry-collection, " Two Strikes and I'm Out ," has been nominated for SFPA's Elgin Award in the "full-length" category . So much going on!

The Terebinth Story Archive      It's been over nine months since page 1.842 and Mrs. Pell's previous ballade. In case people aren't fanatically keeping track of this stuff...

The Terebinth Story Archive      As I often say, it always nice when everyone takes part in the conversation. Just maybe not so nice this time...

Image
The Terebinth Story Archive      Not quite an "adversarial villanelle" since they seem to more or less agree with each other, but still...

The Terebinth Story Archive      Don't complain too much, there, Millie, unless you've suddenly found another word in English that rhymes with "enlarged"...      In case anyone wants to keep track, though, here are the pages where Kestrel, Terpsichore, and Ludmilla have show up previously to act as narrators: page 1,771 , page 1,784 , page 1,787 , page 1,799 , page 1,833 , and page 1,851 . As for Terry there, well, we haven't seen our title character in the comic since page 1,769 , just over two years ago. So much history!

The Terebinth Story Archive      Does it count as consensus when everyone agrees to do the same thing for their own individual and oftentimes competing reasons? 'Cause I might need to update my dictionary...

The Terebinth Story Archive      Have I pointed interested readers back to page 319 and page 320 recently? Over twenty years ago now, that's where Miss Annekke made her first appearance in the comic, and they indicate a bit about her connection to Falkirk. I'll also point folks to page 348 and page 365 , though you'd really have to read the whole archive to get all the details...

The Terebinth Story Archive      That's right: Esther ran off on page 1,843 before Lamont and the four carnivorous ladies reached their agreement on page 1,846 . So this is the first time she's hearing about the whole Falkirk plan.

The Terebinth Story Archive      OK, now, when I said "dueling soliloquies" last week, I did not mean "interlocking sonnets." Let's get it together here, people!

The Terebinth Story Archive      Is it time for dueling soliloquies yet? 'Cause I think it might be time for dueling soliloquies...

The Terebinth Story Archive      She keeps saying it, folks, so I've gotta think that she really means it...

The Terebinth Story Archive      I've said it before, and I'll say it again: it's always nice when everyone joins in the conversation.
